jack suggest : Top 5 webseries from 2019 (worth watching)

Thanks to YouTube and cheap internet, there are plenty of great shows you can start streaming for free on YouTube and nearly free on every Indian OTT platform. Besides Hotstar, Amazon Prime or Netflix, recent platforms like Zee5 and MX Player are making waves in the original Indian content market with ground breaking digital shows. 2019 has been one hell of a year till now and it has seen many web series. There has been an abundant inflow of content, but let's be honest; they all can't be great. Here am gonna give you my top picks for the 5 best Web Series of 2019 so far.

1. The Family Man

This series is about a seemingly timid nerdy middle-class man who is not what you think. It turns out that he is quite the bad boy spy and an international agent. Part drama, part action, and full part comedy and clever writing is what makes it a must-watch. The national award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee makes his debut on the internet as Srikant Tiwari, a regular middle-class man, and government employee who, well, isn’t all he seems to be and as always he didn’t disappoint. If you like espionage and crime thriller sort of patriotic shows with decent writing and good humor, this is the series to go for. Clever plot lines and engaging twists and turns will keep you glued to the screen.

2. Kota Factory

Here is an all-black and white series which is a first for modern Indian digital content. The show is about the struggle to make it into IIT. The series did not focus on the pressure that the system puts on the students but instead, chose to focus on how some students choose this life and it isn’t all that bad as it painted out to be. It’s is a fantastic series that continues being one of the best TVF shows with hundreds of millions of views across YouTube and TVFPlay.

3. Delhi Crime

One of the best Indian digital web series from Netflix in 2019 without a doubt is Delhi Crime. Starring Shefali  Shah , this series was inspired by the 2012 Delhi gang-rape case that shocked the nation. Here, we see the case unfold through the eyes of the police officials and how they managed to put the culprits behind the bars. The series is shot as a story, not a true-crime documentary and covers topics like the police, the politicians, the government, the public, the internet and the two India’s we all see daily. The makers have announced a second season that will handle another case.

4. Criminal Justice

Well, if you enjoyed the crime dramas like Mirzapur or Sacred Games, Criminal Justice really is an edge of your seat thriller type of murder mystery. It is an Indian series remake, based on the original book called Criminal Justice by Peter Moffat. The story revolves around a cabbie who  had a one night stand that seemed too good to be true but then the girl ends up dead after. This series has an ensemble cast of some very big Indian actors to keep the viewers hooked to the streaming platform.

5. Sacred Games Season 2

This is the show that put Bollywood into the digital space. Having stars like Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika  Apte in an Indian web series proves that even Bollywood stars are realizing the massive potential of the platform. Season two of Sacred Games was also released recently in 2019. While it was not as critically acclaimed as the first season, you will still love it.
