Review by j@ck : PANCHAYAT

Newly aired amazon prime offering feels like a sweet dish with unusual sweetness and unnoticed flavors of rural India.

                “ Panchayat is a story of an urban city-born guy who was forced by faith to join a clerical job in a very remote village called Phulera. Where he faces some uncanny situations and a group of some oddball folks, with whom he shares some funny situation, gets frustrated by rural problems and explores some very beautiful faces of rural life in our villages.”

              Lead role ‘Abhishek Tripathi’ is played by our very own Jitendra Kumar, Tvf fans might have familiar with him as Jitubhaiyya . The brilliant actor beautifully portrayed the character of a soft-hearted urban frustrated guy or I must say, frustrated engineer. But engineer here is the difference from other characters played by Jitu as he is not IIT’n here, not a brilliant programmer or having a high paid job. Abisekji (Abhishek- called by his colleagues) is an engineering pass out desperately looking for a job, got an opportunity to join as Sachiv-clerk. Left with no options and insisted by his friend Prateek(Played by Biswapati Sarkar) our hero lands into the Grampanchayat Phulera.“This is your chance to be Mohan Bhargava from Swades, see the real India,” with these words of advice from Prateek Abisek starts his journey. Stuck between crazy villagers and a difficult village lifestyle Abhishek starts his job with the sole motivation of getting out of there as soon as possible, for which he even prepares for CAT.

          Some the important characters are;

Pradhan of Grampanchayat Phulera  - Manju Devi played by Neena Gupta.

         PradhanPati of Grampanchayat Phulera - Bri Bhushan Dubey who,s basically husband

                                                                             of Neena Gupta played by Rghubir Yadav.

        Gram Sahayak - Vikas who is assistant of Abisek played by Chandan Roy.

                      Neena Gupta and Rghubir Yadav have brilliantly performed the role of husband and wife. The chemistry between them is a treat to watch, along with a strong supportive wife portrayal by Neena Gupta n forever helpful pradhanpati by Raghubir Yadav. Fresh face Chandan Roy has given outstanding performance here as performing an innocent assistant, his performance surely gonna make a spot in your heart. Yet another important role of  Prahlad played by Faisal Malik who is Deputy Pradhan.I must mention that the writer Chandan Kumar has brilliantly showcased rural problems with a shade of innocence and beauty of emotions. Director Deepak Kumar Mishra have done an excellent job to retain innocence and maintain humor. The series never felt irrelevant or bore at any point, even as you watch half of the series you feel that there are very few episodes, there should be definitely second season.

                    Along with all this, you will get to feel the frustration of an engineer, with ABISEK in his journey of Phulera, his dual with competitive exams and powercut, rural issues like superstitions, family planning, convincing ward members, etc. Also, it's been a treat to watch beautifully sketched plots like searching for an office key full day, allotment of streetlight, obsession with chakke wali kursi(wheelchair), and how meticulously peoples of Fulera places Petha on the top of the plate.

                   My words may find stupid or irrelevant but you really need to watch the series to feels flavors of this heart-touching lockdown offering. It may not give you an adrenaline rush like action, suspense, or bunch of laugh gags like Rohit Shetty comedy but I am sure it will left you with a sweet smile on the corner of your face with nostalgia in the heart.
